Clean Slate Day 6
“I take a deep breath and allow myself to relax. I have power over my stress with each mindful breath.”
Almost half-way there! Keep your spirits high!
Ok so we are almost half-way through the detox. How are you feeling? Take time journal over the weekend on your mid-cleanse check in page. Click the video for some mid-way motivational breath work.
***focus on sleep***
I have a pesky voice in my head that tells me everything is more important than sleep. Early morning workout, Netflix, Amazon video, HBO Go, Hulu...haha you get my drift. But for realz, sleep is sooo essential to health. And despite what you may think, sleep will do you better than many activate in aiding detox and even weight loss.
I prefer 7-9 hours (9 is soooo nice). Life happens but try to let your body and mind rest and recover. When we don't sleep enough our body releases hunger hormones and tells us to eat more and stop burning fat. Plus when you sleep enough your waking hours are much more productive! So here are a couple tips to help you sleep well:
Don't eat right before bed- You've probably heard this before. But allow your body some time to digest so your stomach isn't going crazy as your body is trying to relax.
Don't drink too much water before bed. If you drink a ton right before you sleep, chances are your bladder will wake you up several times during the night. I try to drink a lot of water during the day but slow down as the sun sets.
Log out- that's right. All your electronics can keep your brain stimulated instead of winding down. Electronics delay your internal clock and the blue light from the screen surpasses the level of melatonin your body releases.
READ A BOOK, SNUGGLE WITH YOUR HONEY, FUR BABY, OR BODY PILLOW!
**digital detox**
Tomorrow is day 7 and it's time to schedule a digital detox day. If it's Sunday and you don't work-perfect! If not, find a day that your can limit your phone, computer, TV time.
Get into nature- take a hike, go to the water, walk around a park. If it's cold out, go to yoga, snuggle in with a book, or make a coffee date with a friend. Cook a nice meal, FOOD prep for your week. The list could go on and on!
Bottom line- get stuff done today so you can rest tomorrow!
Happy resting !
