Clean Slate Day 11

Spice up your life! If you're having a good time :)

I am constantly discovering new ways to improve my health.

Who’s your favorite spice? Or what is your favorite spice I should say? If you’ve noticed from my recipes I sure to like cumin. But the real topic here is spicy foods. Studies have shown that spicy foods have many health benefits such as increasing metabolism, lowering bad cholesterol (LDL), and decreasing inflammation. Just beware of your ratios when dealing with super hot peppers! Start slow if you are new to spice and increase in small amounts and slowly.

***eat out ethic style***

I like to cook with a little spice but I mostly like to enjoy ethnic foods with some heat out at a restaurant. There is such a variety of cuisines to choose from out there and many are very Vegan friendly. Need a night out ? Here are some guidelines for some spice and how to navigate the menu while on the cleanse. Most restaurants have labeled menus but if not ask your waiter for a Vegan, gluten free option (just opt out of anything deep fried).

Thai- coriander, Thai chili powder, green peppercorns, holy basil or sweet basil, cinnamon, lemongrass, ginger and turmeric

My fave Thai dish is Tom Kah or Tom Yum soup. **Beware and ask when fish sauce is used at a Thai restaurant.**

Mexican - onions, garlic, chilli powder, oregano, cumin, jalapeño, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa

Definitely a taco girl- use those lettuce cups for a spicy Mexican taco dish. **Ask if the beans are vegetarian. Hold the cheese and sour cream.**

Indian- cumin, coriander, mustard seeds, ginger, garam masala, turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, spicy red chili pepper

Curry 🤤 green, red, yellow—all bomb! Green is the hottest so start with red or yellow if you’re new to the spice game. **Indian restuarants are very vegan friendly. Papadum is a GF flat bread made from lentils. Just watch dishes that have maida flour and with suji, which means wheat.**

Eat some spice and feel so nice!
